FLAME CLOTHING
Flame Clothing was started in 2008 by Caroline Nongwa with assistance from the Youth Business Malawi (YBM) program started by Prince Charles following the success of the Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust. Based in Blantyre,Malawi, Flame Clothing starts with the belief that “feeling great looks great” and the designs are “madly inspired by the colours and moods of Africa both past and present”. Many of the clothes incorporate the brightly coloured cloths called “chitenje” worn by most Malawian women as a wraparound or tailored into traditional wear. Standard lines include dresses, tops, skirts, shirts, jackets, shorts, trousers, “Malawi Pyjamas” and bags. Clothes are made for ladies, gents and children.
